[or-roots] lumber carrier

Coral;

Way cool! I believe you can check the patents at;

http://www.freepatentsonline.com/1618330.html

for free, you have to register and the form for that is an obnoxiously long
one, but it says "free patent info" so hopefully it isn't like a lot of
other "Free" sites that are free to find out they have the info you want,
but you have to pay to actually see it.

I am sort of in the same boat as Pat, I never knew them by any name but
"straddle buggie" until I was in Forestry School and one of my class mates
wanted to know what those weird things were called when we were touring a
sawmill and I told him that name. I don't remember who corrected me, but
they thought it was pretty funny that I only knew the nickname.

Les,
Thank you for calling to attention the 'lumber carrier' designed by my uncle
Ralph Hereth when he worked for Gerlingers at Dallas, OR (my home town) and
it was used at the Willamette Valley Lumber Company for as long as I can
remember to haul lumber from place to place. Uncle Ralph graduated from
High School and immediately went to work at Gerlingers. It is my understand
that his name is on the patent but this now has spurred me to check that out
for sure, to add to his history in my database. Ralph F. Hereth was born in
1909 and died in 1991. He had many other patents that were used by the US
Navy during WWII.
