The internet has been a fantastic tool for genealogy. It has allowed people
to communicate and share information from different areas of the world.
Genealogists are a sharing group with a mindset than every time they help
someone make a 'connection' it will bring them closer to connecting with
information on 'their' ancestors!

Stephenie Flora is one of the forerunners in using the internet and the web
to help others. What a shock to find her work posted with another's name
attached. This is blatant plagiarism. Stephanie Flora deserves the
recognition for her work and to allow someone to 'lift'/copy the information
off of Stephanie's website www.oregonpioneers.com/ortrail.htm which has been
up for almost ten years (and maybe longer)should not be allowed.

LEE MISSION CEMETERY

In 1996 Sherrill Hochspeir, Jean Custer and Stephanie Flora researched
and compiled a book on Lee Mission Cemetery that was published by the
Willamette Valley Genealogical Society. A few years ago Stephanie Flora
joined the board of Lee Mission Cemetery and put the website online so that
she could keep it updated.

SALEM PIONEER CEMETERY

Tracy Saucy, Ferne Hellie and Addie Dyal Rickey with the help of
others have been working on that site for years.

It is the same person that stole both the information on Lee Mission
Cemetery and Salem Pioneer Cemetery. It is not accidental. There was not a
great deal of research put into the stealing of someone else's work. The
individual never contacted the 'webmaster' of the sites to ask permission to
submit the information as their own work. There is no evidence that the
submitter has actually done any REAL searching other than this type of
stealing.

It is people like this that do not use the information to point themselves
to sources to verify information that cause reliable sources to dry up. It
takes the heart out of someone to have your work that you have put so much
of yourself into stolen and posted.
