[or-roots] gps questions

I realize this is going to be along personal preferences....but what brand, 
kind or any other information on a GPS unit will all of you recommend?

At this point we do not think we want a hand held.

We were in Europe last month and the ONLY way we found anything was with a 
GPS unit.

Came home and realized that they would be a real asset in many things.

So, your opinions, ideas and suggestions are more than welcome.

You can reply off or-roots if you want.

We need to learn more before we buy.
