Subject: [or-roots] taken leave of his census

Using the excuse of lousy weather to stay in and play with genealogy and
have a sticky bit of almost maybe stuff that fits;

I have in Camas Valley 1880 Census page 4the Alston Mrtindale famiy containg
among numerous other one L. Robert son age 16, on page 2 I find Wiley . W.
John age 50 wife harriet 48 and 4 children including A Dorah age 12. WJ is
listed as b. N. Carolina, Harriet England Dorah in Oregon.

In 1900 still in Camas valley Robert Martindale and wife Elizabeth age
perhaps 28 b. Oregon and reporting both parents born in Missourri lists one
child and married 8 years. When I searched for marriage records what I found
was Robert ma Dora E. WIley whos father J. W. Riley testified she was at
least 17 years of age or their marriage in September of 1885.

Perhaps I need to look in Coos Co for the marriage to Elizabeth. To add
insult to the injury it seems J. W. loses his whole family in the twenty
years between these two censuses as he has a wife Melissa of 12 years
marriage in 1900 who is second generation Ohio born.

Are these folks of interest to anyone else out there?

Les C
