Have you tried to save it as a j peg you should be able to retain the 18 x 
28 and shrink the megs a great deal. There are several photo programs that 
do this. Also might look up setting the scanner and might get less megs on 
future scans.
   I have the book on Marion and Linn. Lots of info in it. My cousin who is 
an author borrowed it for details on her book.
