Marsha and all
First - why did Ronald leave the "stuff" in the barn. I found out that in
his older years he took on a partner who, shall we say, played fast and
loose with some clients funds.
Ronald, being the responsible one, I would guess, was prevented from
practicing for a year. I do not know if he ever took up his practice again.
This was probably in the fifties. The 1950's, that is.
I suggest that he closed his office, took the records and put them in a
friend or relative's barn. His niece and grandniece were not surprised
when I told them the story about the documents. Except to wonder whose barn
it was.
Second - who were all these people.
Glovers - Philip Glover and Sarah Koontz had a DLC in T07SR1W, Marion
County, southeast of Salem. They came to Oregon from Missouri, where
children William and Maria were married to Graves siblings:
William Glover, son of Philip Glover and Sarah Koontz, married Jane Jett
Graves in 1843, took up a DLC in T06SR01W, lived at what is now Mt. Angel.
No children.
Maria Glover, daughter of Philip Glover and Sarah Koontz, married John
Pinckard (Jack) Graves in 1844, eleven children. Also lived at Mt. Angel.
Charles Peyton Glover, son of Philip and Sarah, married Clarissa Rebecca
Palmer, daughter of John Henry and Catherine (Graves) Palmer. Catherine was
a sister of Jack Graves and Jane Jett Graves.
They were married in Oregon in 1864, and lived at Macleay. Charles Peyton
and Clarissa had eleven children, one of whom was:
Ronald Glover, who married Vera Byars. Her siblings, I believe, lived in the
Battle Mountain area. They had no children.
I don't have a Glover marrying a McCubbins, but that is not to say there
wasn't one. Be interested to see how they fit in.
Third - John Henry Palmer and Catherine Nowlin Graves are my 2ggrandparents,
through their son, Henry Laramie, who married Lottie (Parks) Reed.
I would love to know about any pictures you have, Marsha, and how you are
related to the family.
One of our challenges, of course, is identifying the pictures the rest of us
have.

Well, I don't have any of those folks, as I said, but do have Ronald
Glover, b 16 May 1882 in Marion or Linn (probably Linn) married Vera Byars,
died 19 Feb 1964 I have diffirent wife. With children. Palmer was ? either
sister or cann't quite remember but will get back to you, have pictures.
. He was a lawyer in Salem. No children that I know of. His
mother, Clarissa Palmer, was a sister to my great-grandfather. That makes
him my first cousin twice removed. That would make your great-grandfather ?
His niece is one of my favorite cousins and lives in Portland. Also, from a
different sibling, a grandniece lives there. I'm going to visit them in a
couple of weeks.
Is there anything in the batch that might be of interest to *his* family?

To answer Les,
The documents appear to be from the files of Attorney Ronald C. Glover. How
they ended up where they were is a mystery to the present owner of the barn.
It is believed that her father-in-law, who was a long time farmer in Marion
County, was storing them for some reason. He is long since deceased so the
answers went with him years ago.
Also, if anyone is interested in these papers I would prefer it if they
would contact me directly rather than through the list. That way I will be
sure to receive it. I receive the list in digest mode so I could miss a
message.
