That is the guy, in his Wasco County History he has an inventory of his
photos, at least I assume he took them, don't recall for sure if I read that
or just assumed it, but a casual glance told me it was impressive. I didn't
save that part of the book when i redownloaded it the other day. It was one
of the things that went south with my hard drive, I did manage to find most
of the pages, but since it only took a few minutes to do the pdf and
relableling them would have taken me a long time and the pdf's are handier
anyway.

Les...are you referring to the William McNeal who published histories of
Wasco County and The Dalles?  If so, I haven't seen a photo collection but a
few years ago someone (can't remember who) told me that all of his papers
had been given by his daughter to either the Wasco County Historical Society
or the historical society at The Dalles.

Does anyone know if his collection got preserved?

I would swear I stole some of his images off the net a few years back for my
wife to use with her preschoolers, but I didn't include the info of who I
stole them from in the captions file.

I know that was evil of me, but I really couldn't afford to spend $160 to
provide images of real Native Americans for her kids and of course she
wanted them the next day in "nice 5x7 format thank you."

I just googled him and google doesn't seem to think he exists, they insist
it is spelled McNeil.
