Ingrid;

Searching the Lightle surname comes up pretty empty west of the Rockies;

Lawrence Kip; James K Kelly; W H Farrar
An Illustrated history of Union and Wallowa Counties : with a brief outline
of the early history of the state of Oregon.
unknown: Western Historical Pub. Co., 1902, 714 pgs.

page 513 under the heading of Flora;

"In 1896 the Flora Academy was opened by Professor Lightle."

It goes on to talk about someone else trying to locate an academy
permanently in 1998.
And I thought my kin got short shrift in the histories.

Hi Les,
It's been so quiet on this list I thought it had gone down. I keep hoping
someone there in Oregon turns up Lightle in their tree so I can fill in some
gaps. Long distance internet genealogy, leaves me jet-lagged. Misery does
love company - my family tree looks more like brambleberries - my folder of
maybes is thicker than the got 'ems. It is a tangled weave for sure - oh to
get my hands on some family bibles.
Ingrid
