[or-roots] Claypool Cemetery, Linn County

You are absolutely right, which is part of the problem.

It's pretty clear by now that the siblings lived close to each other, and
communicated regularly. So, they probably all went to Whitman County,
Washington about the same time (1880) and the widow and children may have
simply been missed. I think I'll know more when I see the 1899 probate --
19 years after he died, but only one year after his wife died.

What fun!

Pat

Sometimes folks did travel to a cemetery where "other family" were buried so

it isn't necessarily a confirmation that folks lived in an area because
someone is buried there. There are also unmarked graves.

Unfortunately we do not have "good" death record coverage before the early
1900's and even then it can be rather spotty. I have one relative alive in
1930 in Roseburg (having lived there most of his lifetime) and I have not
found him on any death records. I'm fairly certain that he has died (Isaac
Matthews b 15 Jul 1853 OR) but no idea where or when.
