[or-roots] Royal, Lane County

[Roy Blaine]

My mother was born in the Royal community, just west of Silk Creek, toward Loraine from Cottage Grove.  I know how Silk Creek got its name (by family legend) but I do not know the origin of the name of Royal.  There was an SDA school there for a few years - Royal Academy - and a store/gas station, and a few homes.

 

If anyone knows the origin of the name, I'd appreciate it.
