The Irish actually did not arrive in this area until the early 1900's. 
There were a few here earlier.  Horsemen populated this area first.  The 
Summer Lake - Chewaucan valley is perfect horse country.

We have a copy of the Rigdon Journal and therein is the lists of many years 
of folks going to and from the Willamette Valley via the Oregon Military 
Road.

What is the land description of your land, Dan and go to ORGLO records.  You 
know, the BLM site...that will bring  you up who homesteaded your site.  In 
Lakeview, the Ameri-Title office is wonderful to help you look at the 
original records.  The gals in the county clerks office are also wonderful 
help.  There you can copy the original records for you own use.  For just a 
nominal fee of copying.
