Dan;
We had a speaker at the PLSO conference this year who has been studying the
old trails and wagon roads in the central Oregon area for some time. Sheesh,
finally found it.
He is Mike Berry and he works in the Deschutes Co Surveyors office, his main
focus is the Meek Cutoff which ironically his research proved to him runs
practically through his yard.
by the way, if you are following an official road keep a close watch on the
the trees, (well if you are in and area that has them) contract roads were
supposed to be marked every mile with a scribed mile post and I believe Mike
said they were supposed to blaze every tree along the road that was adjacent
to it.

Yeah but it might be a nice drive. We also want to see the sunstone
collection area and Wagontire. My friend from the museum is checking high
areas 5 to 10 000 feet looking for snails and clams to document land
changes, we have them here over thousands of years old just about every
where proves it was once a very wet area.
We been to Bend and Redmond so much and there is nothing left to see.
This summer I am going to hike the road across the hills they call Duncan
reservoir, it looks like wagon road, I am wanting to see where is goes in
the ravine. You cant drive any thing there but a horse would be nice.
