Well I downloaded from Microsofts download site, enough said lets get back to genealogy.
If anyone is interested.
The Washington State Genealogy Societies annual conference is is Chehalis, Washington September 17-18 this year, they do not yet have the registration online, but will later.

The Oregon Heritage Conference is going to be regional conference's this year so if you are interested in that you can get the info from their website, both of these conferences you can get good info for genealogy.

Dorothy Mae Powell

Hi, I posted a few days ago, but haven't seen it come up.

I'm trying to track this lady. I had her, her mom, Ida Mckinley, brother, George William, and an uncle, Walter Pugh on the 1930 census for Pendleton, OR. I believe the dad was George b. Powell. I can't find what happened to dorothy. The mom d. 1938, brother, 1995, the uncle, 1955. I've been on the OR. archives, the LDS, the Umatilla co., site, and a bunch more. I think she married, and died in 1933. Any ideas???? Thanks, Laura

Sounds to me more like you were 'had' by a anti-malware virus. IE8 will not give you anything like you described. The anti-malware will and try to send you via a Trojan virus to a false program that will further harm your computer. I think I am fairly computer savvy and I was had by one of these last month.

I don't know anything about a Virus Soft program, but I have had computer hangups with IE8, and have tried unsuccessfully to uninstall it. I'm now using Firefox.

When I downloaded IE8 the other night It came with a Program called Virus soft from Microsoft's download site, the Virus Soft program told me all my programs on my computer were infected with a trojan virus and wanted me to download their Virus Soft program, which installed with automatic updates, but to active I had to pay $60.00, I could not open any of my programs or even get into the internet, It would not let me uninstall it or remove it, as I said I had to do a full restore of my computer to get my computer back and I still to not have everything back to normal.
I sent an Email to microsoft and they will not even reply.

I’ve had IE 8 on one of my computers for months. No problems yet. No question of

virus checking programs (of course I already had one on the computer). Maybe

there’s some other problem?

My Computer just crashed this morning, whatever you do, DO NOT upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, it has its own
virus program, and locks up your computer until you download the program at $60.00, I had to do a complete restore of my computer to git rid of it, it will not uninstall, or let you into any programs including the internet.

Hello all.

I have a gr.gr.gr. grandmother who is buried at Multnomah Park Pioneer
Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Mary is buried in a plot next to her daughter,
Isabelle Jane Boyd. My father and I visited the grave this past Sunday.
Here's the basic information on Mary:

Mary A (Ann) Barnett (maiden name Carr)

Born March 4, 1831

Died July 8, 1908 in Portland

I am having difficulty finding her death certificate. I searched online
indexes at the following to no avail: Oregon Archives, Oregon Vital
Records/Death Index, Genealogical Forum.

Are you able to find anything? Thank you in advance for your
help.

AVG is the best virus protection possible. i recommend getting both and
running both even if you have another virus program.
The 3rd link is to Mozilla where you can download the Firefox
browser. i recommend you get Firefox after you run Malwarebytes and AVG.
These will take some time to run (hours) but it may well be worth it.

Hey folks; Donna has a legitimate complaint. Layne gives us a lot of freedom to be "chatty" on here and only rarely rebukes us for our misbehaior, but Donna IS right this is a genealogy and history list and she has

politely

asked us to return to that focus and while I enjoy the fact that we do not follow the rigid protocols that some lists adhere to, we still need to keep it civil and focused on the history and genealogy.

I had to take my computer to a repair facility about a
month ago, and they recommend both Malwarebytes & AVG.

It is
virtually impossible to uninstall IE 8 or any version of Internet
Explorer. It is so entwined in the operating system
it is
unbelievable. Its like a persons central nervous system.

i
sent three links to help with the problem of
gunkware.
They are all free. Malwarebytes (the
first one) is absolutely
amazing as far as cleaning up goes.
AVG
is the best virus protection possible. i recommend getting both and
running both even if you have another virus program.
The 3rd link is
to Mozilla where you can download the Firefox
browser. i
recommend you get Firefox after you run Malwarebytes and AVG.

These will take some time to run (hours) but it may well be worth
it.

I don't know anything about a Virus Soft
program, but I have had computer hangups with IE8, and have tried
unsuccessfully to uninstall it. I'm now using
Firefox.

When I downloaded IE8 the other night It came with a
Program called Virus soft from Microsoft's download site, the Virus
Soft program told me all my programs on my computer were infected
with a trojan virus and wanted me to download their Virus Soft
program, which installed with automatic updates, but to active I had
to pay $60.00, I could not open any of my programs or even get into
the internet, It would not let me uninstall it or remove it, as I
said I had to do a full restore of my computer to get my computer
back and I still to not have everything back to normal.
I sent an
Email to microsoft and they will not even reply.

Glen

I’ve
had IE 8 on one of my computers for months. No problems yet. No
question of

virus checking programs (of course I already had
one on the computer). Maybe

there’s
some other problem?

My
Computer just crashed this morning, whatever you do, DO NOT upgrade
to Internet Explorer 8, it has its own
virus program, and locks
up your computer until you download the program at $60.00, I
had to do a complete restore of my computer to git rid of it, it
will not uninstall, or let you into any programs including the
internet.
