  I wont go any higher than 7.
I was going to stay on 6 but just had to see what 7 was about <G>

  Sounds to me more like you were 'had' by a anti-malware virus. IE8 will not give you anything like you described. The anti-malware will and try to send you via a Trojan virus to a false program that will further harm your computer. I think I am fairly computer savvy and I was had by one of these last month.
