Thank you for sharing this. And, of course, I “had” to go to the website, whereupon I spent two hours searching for other California relatives.
This is a great source – I found one story about “Uncle Buck” Graves (William J Graves), lawyer and judge in San Luis Obisbo, that I had not heard before, and it fills in some blanks.
William J Graves sister, Catherine Nowlin Graves, was my 2ggm. She and my 2ggf, John H Palmer, as well as another brother, John (Jack) and Maria (Glover) Graves were early settlers of Graves Butte, later Mt. Angel.
(Just thought I’d get a little “advertising” in here <G>)
