I believe if you read carefully the distances in this article are a little different than the ones quoted in the earlier article; I think this one is closer to correct. As the crow flies today it is about 22 miles from the mouth of the Umpqua to the Coos Bay Bar and I believe the end of the stage line was a bit back this way.
