[or-roots] Finally, an Oregon Pioneer in the family

Well, if one is patient with this genealogy, and you keep with it for a
while, eventually you discover that everyone really is related to
everyone else, or so it seems --

I'd always thought my Burr-Simpkins family just "came to Oregon" on
their own in 1909, but now I find that Rosetta Simpkins parents and at
least one sister were already here -- they were in Kansas in 1880 and
in Oregon around 1990 -- and Rosetta's sister, Charlotte "Lottie"
Simpkins/Simkins, married Edgar Van Dorn in 1894, son of southern
Oregon pioneers Isaac Van Dorn and Martha Wright.

Now, if any of you folks with experience in these early Oregon
emigrants could suggest where to look to see if I could find more on
Isaac Van Dorn's arrival in Oregon, I would appreciate it. No, he is
not an ancestor, but he is part of the family. Would also be interested
in why/when Edgar and and Lottie moved to Yakima, WA, should anyone have
any clues as where to look.

Thank you,

Bill Strickland
