I have not tried to find just when Isaac & Martha Jane Van Dorn came to the
O.T., but do have an interest in this family. According to census records,
their oldest daughter was b. about 1858 in Oregon, so they were here early.
Their son, Benedict, married my grandaunt, Eliza Griffin, in 1895. You may
already have the following information. The Josephine Co. marriage records
list Edgar Vandorn to Lettie A. Simkins 04 Feb 1894 (I have her in my
records as Lottie). Isaac's death certificate gives his burial place as
Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hugo, Josephine Co., OR. I have not checked on
Martha Jane. Neither of these folks is listed on the Interment.net web site
listing for this cemetery. Census records show that Lottie (without Edgar)
moved to Selah, Yakima Co., WA between 1910 & 1920, possibly to join her
parents. In 1910 there is a Noah Simkins & wife Rebecca living in Selah.
According to Family Search Washington Death Certificates Lottie Anna Van
Dorn d. 05 May 1948 in Yakima, Yakima Co., WA., age 70y 11m 1d, spouse Edgar
Van Dorn, father Noah Simpkins, mother Rebecca Atterbarry. Edgar Vandorn d.
09 Dec 1954 in Yakima, Yakima Co., WA, age 91y 7m 27d, father Isaac Vandorn,
mother Martha Wright. Some of their children are listed there also, but
Noah & Rebecca Simkins/Simpkins are not included in this database.
