Well, that's quite a bit of information .... !! My gr-gr-grandfather was James Andrew Hamlin, settled in Jackson county, and I thought maybe there was a connection, but not so. Thank you for your response.

My husband's great great grandfather was John Lewis Hamlin, born 28 Nov 1823 in NY or Connecticut. He was married 3 July 1848 in Peoria, Illinois to Mary Jane Bunn. After they came to Oregon they were divorced in Douglas County. He married (2) Mary Jane Conner in Douglas County. She was the daughter of William Conner II and Theodotia Layton.

John Hamlin died 8 Dec 1878 in Polk County. He is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, between Sheridan and Ballston, OR. Pleasant Hill Cemetery, also known as Red Prairie Cemetery. 2.5 miles west of Ballston. Site of former Methodist Episcopal Church, T. 6S, R. 4 W., Section 12. Caretakers who live in adjoining property from the Conner Donation Land Claim: Jerry and Janet Smith, address: Sheridan, Oregon. The Pleasant Hill Cemetery is located on the Nathan Conner Donation Land Claim and was established in 1852. Polk County Cemetery Book Volume 5 page 56.

John L. and Mary Jane (Bunn) Hamlin's daughter, Mary Fidelia Hamlin, married Stephen Elbridge Steward in Coos County 24 Sep 1866 in Coquille at the home of her mother and stepfather, John T. Moulton and Mary Jane (Bunn) Moulton.

According to John L. Hamlin's estate papers, he and Mary Jane (Conner) Hamlin, had 3 sons: John Hamlin, Ralph Hamlin, and Waldo "Wally" Hamlin.

That's about all I know about my husband's Hamlin connection.
