Me too, but sometimes my son and I take the old routes between Salem and
Portland just for the fun of it. He is amazed at the old towns and what we
are missing by taking the freeways all of the time.

I remember those old hwys too.
We sure missed the towns later tho.
Once we started going the hwy we stopped trying to get to the towns.

I'm thinking old 99 went right through the main part of Woodburn before
I-5. We had to travel 99 from Medford to Portland several times a year from
1949 when we moved to Medford from Portland.

Old downtown Woodburn is an interesting place, well worth checking out
-- sorta between I-5 and 99E and not on either one, but between them --
either you are going to somewhere downtown, or you miss it entirely on
either of the two major N-S hiways or going E-W on 211.
