Dale

I did get to the Archives Thursday, but not until late, my wife decided to go with me and they were busy at the archives a group was there doing research and had a lot of the death certificates they were looking at also, so only got to a small part of what I wanted to do.

I have to go down again about the 11th as I have several books checked out from the State Library on my Currier family and will go to the archives again and hopefully can look at the Multnomah County Death certificates for you.

Thanks, I am thinking that could be the case. There were two other children and a step mother that were all buried beside each other. I think maybe this could have been during some sort of epidemic, maybe the flu. If it is not in the Oregon Death Index, there was probably no death certificate filed with the state. If it was a child, there might have been a notice in the newspaper but not necessarily an obituary. It could be as simple as "The daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Hardwick died yesterday." It is available on Ancestry.com. and also at the Archives. I checked, however, and there were 90 Hardwicks but no Verna or anything close. -----Original Message----- From: Harguess, Dale To: or-roots mail list Sent: Fri, Jan 8, 2010 8:49 am Subject: Re: [or-roots] Death certificates from the Archives What if all you know is the child's name and where she was buried but not the actual death date which was sometime between 1915 and 1919? -----Original Message----- From: or-roots-bounces at listsmart.osl.state.or.us [mailto:or-roots-bounces at listsmart.osl.state.or.us ] On Behalf Of Layne G SAWYER Sent: Thursday, January 07, 2010 11:12 AM To: or-roots at listsmart.osl.state.or.us Subject: [or-roots] Death certificates from the Archives Dear Rooters, Just want to remind folks that you can receive copies of death certificates that are more than 50 years old from the Reference Unit here at the State Archives.
