Deceased Name: JAMES WARDER POWELL
James Warder Powell of Beaverton died of causes related to age Tuesday in a
Portland care center. He was 84. 

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Portland Memorial
Funeral Home. Private interment will be in Portland Memorial Mausoleum. 

He was born Aug. 27, 1906, in Portland, but attended grade school in
Scappoose. Mr. Powell worked as a pilot on the Columbia River for 21 years.
He previously had been a tugboat captain on the Willamette River, and also
spent four years on the Yukon River in Alaska. 

Survivors include his wife, Vivian H. of Beaverton; son, James W. Jr. of
Tigard; and two grandchildren. 

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to Shriner's Hospital
for Crippled Children. Edition: FOURTH
