We call them our "Tacky" relatives; if you read Esther Ruth Smith's History of Del Norte County you will find some of them and a lot of married intos. I actually have about a quarter or more of her book in my family file now, some of that through excess enthusiasm but a lot of them are kind or immediate inlaws of kin.
Sorry this reply has taken so long as I thought I sent it some time ago and apparently got called away from computer before finishing it.

Less what is your line in Cresent City? Lived there

Ronda; How wonderful, I wish I could do the same. My
nearest brother and his wife are "somewhere in the midwest" doing a
genealogical trip of their own at this time, but sadly it is too late
for a trip like yours for us as we are the oldest generation now.
I did get to do some of that kind of travelling with my parents as
a child, unfortunately I didn't get any record of what I heard
or where we went. Dad did take my middle brother to some places that
were important to his youth a time or two.
Of course it is a little different for me as most of my great
grandparents are buried here in Oregon or in Crescent City and beyond
them we have almost no graves to look for.
