My husband has Straub immigrants who came from Germany during this time period. I contacted Diana Gale Matthiesen who has done a lot of research on the Straubs and this is how she responded. This may give you a different source to check out.
The author of this page is mixing up different waves of immigration.
There was, indeed, a wave of Palatine Germans who migrated to London
in 1709, then from there, on to *New York* in 1710. Their story is
told in a 1937 book by Walter Allen Knittle entitled, "Early
Eighteenth Century Palatine Emigration: a British Government
Redemptioner Project to Manufacture Naval Stores" (Dorrance& Co.,
Philadelphia).
