Roy; you definitely have the right cemetery, I did post the finda grave info on it yesterday.
In looking at the location (which according to Google Earth is Oregon 74 also known as Heppner Highway and becomes 395 about 8 miles out of Pilot Rock) I found a picture of Vinson taken in 1968. The photographer  has a lot of late fifties into the '70's photos posted on Panaramio and I thought some of you who had family from NE Oregon might get lucky and find long lost family farms photos if you look at his stuff. I asked him if people could contact him and hope he doesn't regret agreeing to it.

Is his Panoramio page and there is a "private message" link on the right side of the page. His name is Pat Cassidy and I highly recommend his pages just for the joy of his photography.
I also suggest for those who have not done so, if you have a place near and dear to your hearts that you no longer are able to visit; check it out on Google Earth. If you have any kind of decent computer connection, even dial up with a halfway decent computer you can see a lot of stuff. It will be slow on dial-up I am sure though as it takes about a minute to load on my system.

Dale,

Is it possible you drove from Pendleton to Heppner by way of Pilot Rock and over Franklin Summit?  By your description, the most likely cemetery you describe is the Vinson cemetery which is not on Hiway 74 at all, but it is near Butter Creek.
