Dale,
If you check the Oregon Historical Records Index at
http://genealogy.state.or.us/
you will find the information regarding Emanuel Horner’s divorce from his first wife. You can request copies from the Reference Staff at:
archives.reference at state.or.us<mailto:archives.reference at state.or.us>
If you know the county were Lavina and John Philip Johns divorced you can check the Oregon Historical County Records Guide and determine what records exist and how to contact the courts.
http://arcweb.sos.state.or.us/pages/records/local/county/index.html
Divorces before 1946 would only be found as Circuit Court records. After 1946 you might also find a Divorce return filed with the Vital Records office in Portland. The Divorce returns older than 50 years can be accessed through the Reference Staff at the State Archives as well.
Good luck in your hunt.
Regards,
Layne Sawyer

Subject: [or-roots] Early divorces in Oregon
I am trying to find out how, if possible to find a couple of divorce records. One of them is an Emanuel Horner who got divorced from his first wife Lucintha Jane Stillwell sometime before 1860. Then I am also looking for a divorce from a Lavina Johns from a John Phillip F. Johns probably before 1870.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
I also am looking for Emanuels marriage record to Lavina.
Thanks,
Dale in California
