[or-roots] common mistakes indexing 1940 census

David,

Weekend transcriber here - Question Ireland

Erie Ireland, Free Ireland - were either of those entries correct - or will
I be hearing from my arbitrator ?

I have been making massive use of Wikipedia to correct spellings and
verifying counties - but a question - if the census listed a city and a
state - and I know the county - should I have filed in that item?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

1. Column 3 for Household visitation (do not use Column 2) 2. Race is
spelled out, no abbreviations (White, Black, Japanese, etc) 3. fail to use
Zoom plus button to verify spellings 4. R means just that.
5. Do not enter "Ab", it means absent from household 6. Do not forget middle
initials. I see plenty left out.
7. Canada, when it says Canada Eng, it means Canada Eng. Do not enter
England. If it says Canada-English, it means that.
