Only one animal was injured during these events, and his name is Terry
Stein (Nettie's husband)
Seems about 3am this morning,Terry got up 'cause he heard some noises,
like dogs barking, or maybe it was his dog wanting out. Unfortunately,
the details are not overly clear, but suffice it to say, there was an
"incident" in the kitchen.
Nettie reports waking up wondering why there were coyotes howling in her
kitchen. On her way to check this odd scenario out, she stumbles upon a
large shaggy beast moaning about on the kitchen floor. Yes, somehow
Terry had fallen and broken his leg.
This tale was relayed to me by Terry himself, Nettie, and their daughter
Heather, in Terry's room at Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City,
shortly before Terry was wheeled away for surgery about 5pm this
evening. His right femur is broken a couple inches down from the head,
according to the x-rays. His chief complaint was no food nor water
prior to surgery, not the discomfort. All were in good spirits,
choosing to "make lemonade" when handed a basket of lemons.
I have no other details, like who is tending the critters at Eden Hill,
results of surgery, etc, but now you know why that darned big coyote was
howling in Nettie's kitchen.
