Hi Joanne, The Nichols, both Edward and his son, George actually worked for both Bill and Mike Hanley during their lifetimes. They worked for Bill Hanley on the huge OO spread SW of Burns and for Mike at the large Butte Creek Ranch. I have some pictures of both her grandad and great grandad Nichols in their wagon in front of the big barn on the Hanley Farm in Jacksonville. My mother-in-law Geneva Nichols lived on the Butte Creek Ranch for a while after she divorced her first husband and then met my father-in-law, William "Fritz" Nickell who worked for the ranch as a cow hand. He lived on his dad's homestead (William A. 'Bill' Nickell) just outside of the Hanley Ranch property. Interesting enough, Bill Nickell registered his brand as OO after the old Hanley OO Ranch was sold in 1941. The family used to have some of the daily logs for the ranch as my mother-in-law Geneva kept all of the records for her dad on the day to day expenses and time records, etc... as it pertained to the cow hands and the cattle drives, etc...
