Bill, Since I am Paisley Postmaster, retired....I had many different reads on envelopes. Some were a little more that unusual, but since I knew everyone...the letter got delivered. However, a properly addressed envelope was sure nice. I had a nasty inspector that seemed to appear when an envelope would come with just a name and Paisley. I knew where to deliver, but that ole bag had to lecture me to lecture the customer on how to properly address an envelope for delivery. I will not repeat what happened when she tried to instruct a customer on how to tell the person who mailed the letter to them that was not 'properly' done. It was not a pretty scene. I got a bad mark, but oh well....was fun to watch the customer explain to this ole bag a few things about life. And her ancestry.!!!

I go read the old county newspapers when in Lakeview
Lakeview, the county seat is also not "large" -- seems it has a population of around 3,000. One goes to Bend or Klamath Falls for anything more than just "groceries, nails, and gunpowder" -- Bend or Medford for serious medical attention. If one is suddenly desperate, and know who to ask though, folks will find what one needs in their cupboards, woodshed, or pump house -- but then you have to reciprocate likewise.
Basically, everyone in Paisley knows everyone else personally.
The post office will deliver mail to my cousin Jessie, simply addressed to "Jessie, Paisley, OR".
And that is about the size of it. Another reason this Frank Elder is such a mystery ...
