When my mother applied for my father's SS, she had remarried and was living in Yucapai, CA.  So the application was not from Klamath Falls, Oregon where he died and they lived for many  years.  He was only 59 when he died and Mother was a very young 52.  I had a hard time figuring that out as I was positive that the SS applications would be at the place of residence for the deceased.  So, if you cannot find the SS info, think about the applicants place of residence.  Diane

There any number of reasons why a deceased person might not be listed on the SSDI - the first logical reason, in my mind, is this:   If the person was not drawing SS when they died, there would be no reason to notify SSA of their death, and therefore would not be listed on the SSDI.    If they were drawing SS, the SSAdmin. would have to be notified of the death to stop the payments, so under normal circumstances the name would then be included on the SSDI.  So, if a person is missing from the SSDI, determine whether they would have, or should have, been drawing SS.
