Riddle me this one;
1870 Census Douglas County, Canyonville page 2, dwelling 14;
Acosta Frank 37 Mexico
Cecilla 25 Washington T
Mary 6 Oregon
Adaline 4 "
Francois 1 "
Eliza 2/12 "
1880 Census Doug Co, Canyonville, page 13; [still next door to Alex Dumont so probably same house]
Gingras Parcis 50 W T
Ceciel 34 WT wife
four Gingras children
Acosto Wm 16 Oregon
Adalaid 14 "
Frank 11 "
Eliza 9 "
Catherine 7 "
So where the heck is WM in 1870? I have to assume he is somewhere as my sex change comment was purely sarcasm, but I have been unable to find him. In fact if I didn't have his marriage documents for marrying Cinda Rondeau in 1892 and what I presume is his divorce from her in the Plaindealer in 1902 and a death index entry I assume is him I would say the 1880 census us wrong.
Name: Wm.
Acusta
Event Type: Death
Event Date: 24 Aug 1911
Event Place: Douglas, Oregon
Unfortunately the Plaindealer online only goes to 1905. My main question is whether William who marries Cinda in Douglas Co on 31 July 1892 is the above listed Wm age 16 and whether he is indeed Frank's son. If I could find them in 1900 I would probably have at least half my answer and would be happy to assume the rest and leave proving it to someone it was important to.
But no matter how I tease my query I cannot find him in 1900 or 1910, even though I am sure he is in Douglas county the whole time.
Ah well it is getting to be late thirty, time for bed.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everybody.
