A member of my DAR chapter has a Patriot with the first name of Strangeman--from Virginia.  That's the only time I'd heard of it.

the name that I keep seeing in my Quaker ancestors is, "Strangeman"  I can't help but wonder where that name came from and why it was so popular to name a baby that?  This is a given name, not a surname.
