I've been thinking about this, and have another suggestion --- paper!
I'm pretty sure that FTM 2014 allows for the printing of reports, so you
could make up a "book" with the following chapters.
1. The cousin's ancestors - in two formats. First, an ahnentafel report from
the cousin back, with a basic "how to read" paragraph. Secondly, a
"journal" report, also from the cousin, back as far as your database goes.
2. Identify each of the "top of the line ancestors" and create a "journal"
descendant report (probably "Custom Report" "or "Descendant Report" from
FTM) from each of the ToL ancestors. And, include a descendent "indented
chart" (probably "outline Descendant Report" from each of the ToL's. This
gives all the siblings on down each line.
With five hundred people, this shouldn't be too bulky. Also, consider the
cousin. IF, as many of us older folks do, the cousin has trouble reading
fine print, make sure the font is at least 12 point, and in an easy to read
style, such as Times Roman. Some people have less problem with serif fonts
than sans-serif, such as Arial.
My particular database, The Master Genealogist, allows me to create and save
individual reports, and then, from Word (my choice), go into the reports and
"fix" them. They are never perfect from scratch, because I'm pretty lazy
sometimes with notations and such. You can also add photos (which you may
do from the database also, in some programs.) I know that FTM didn't do
this in the past (one of the reasons I switched), and it doesn't look like
it does now, but at least the option of "Genealogy Book" which would produce
some version of the reports above as a PDF, is available. In the end, you
want a PDF, to go along with the paper copy, in case your cousin wants to
view it on the computer.
I have done this several times, particularly for relatives who aren't
particularly computer savvy. It takes time, but not any more time than
cleaning up the database for exporting 500 of the folk in the database.
Hope you have fun with this one.

| My wife has just discovered a cousin she never knew about. They have been
| corresponding now for about two weeks. She [cousin] has never known her
| genealogy and desires to know it before her passing [soon].
|
| I need a small, and hopefully free, downloadable program to place about
| 500 people in for her. All our data is in FTM 2014.
|
| She will never be 'doing' genealogy with it, just seeing/studying it.
|
| Any suggestions?
|
| First of the week we will drive about six hours to meet her face-to-face
for the
| first time. Both my wife and cousin are excited!!
|
| Thanks for any help,
|
