Dorena and cottage Grove Historical societies are the same and all Rely on volunteers so if a volunteer is unable to be there they will not be open

That's a pretty neat history...  Are you talking about the bridge that was featured in the1927 Buster Keaton film "The General?" 
I did not know there was a Dorena Historical Society. Where exactly are they are located and do you know if they have regular 'open' hours? Maybe they have some information I am not yet aware of. 
I don't seem to be able to get in touch with the Cottage Grove Historical Society.  I've stopped by their location when they say they are open but no one is ever there, and my phone calls/messages have not beenresponded to..

My Grandfather logged in Disston also worked on building the railroad bridge across the row river I have family photos from 1910 made sure the Dorena historical society had copies

Thanks... I appreciate your offer.
I have the court papers from the trial of the Southwells for the murder and am still transcribing them but a cursory read through didn't shed any light.
No, I'm not living in Cottage Grove any longer... I am now on a small acreage that is part of another 3x great grandfathers (Frederick Thiele)  DLC in Oakland, OR.  One of George's sons married one of Frederick's daughters.
There were Clark DLC all along what is now the I-5 corridor from about Rowriver Rd. almost to Creswell.  The Rowriver was named in honor of my 3x great grandfather and as a result of his murder.

When I get a chance I will go to the state archives and see if I can find anything there for you, did find some info on the Early Oregonian Search, but no burial info Etc.
Do you live in Cottage Grove? I have relatives there and my mother and her family lived in Disston Oregon in 1910.

Looking for any information re: the death,burial, and obituary for my 3rd great grandfather George W. Clark. He was murdered by a nephew in Cottage Grove (Dorena area) on 27 March 1868.
I primarily would like to find an obituary from a Cottage Grove, Eugene, Salem, or Portland newspaper. Themicro film for the 'Guard'  for the dates immediately after his death in the U of O collection was missing the last time I looked for it. 
Any assistance in finding his grave-site would be greatly appreciated.
