Oh Layne, congratulations on your retirement! May you have wonderful adventures and experiences as you begin this new chapter in your life. 

I don't know you personally but I thank you for your dedication and passion for genealogy and history. Over the years you have been a GREAT List-mom and answered answered questions for many many researchers and helped so many to find their roots. 

You will be missed!

I know things have been quite on the list but I wanted to send a greeting to everyone and wish you all Happy Holidays. This year has really been one for the books. 

The Archives still remains closed to in-person research but staff are here in rotating shifts and responding to remote requests. We have recently added delayed birth records from 1903-1918 to the database, along with many other records over the past months, so be sure to keep checking back. https://genealogy.state.or.us/ 





On a personal note I will be retiring from state service at the end of 2020. I have been with the Archives for 34 years and have loved working with the staff and researchers over these many years. Much has changed in that time but I know that the commitment to preserving and making information from our holdings available will continue to be a priority. 



I hope you are all staying safe and healthy and that 2021 will be a calmer and brighter year for us all.
