Subject: [or-roots] Gary in Arizona/Root surname

Gary, I noticed the name, Root, in you research. I found the name Root =
( no first name given) in the 1875 census of Lake County, Oregon. Root =
and Hoskins drove a herd of cattle into the Chewaucan Valley of Lake =
County, Oregon from California in 1871 according to The History of =
Central Oregon . In the 1880 census there is still the Hoskins family, =
but I cannot find any mention of Root. Louise Hoskins was age 60 in =
1880 and had a son and grandson living with her. Next door was John =
Hoskins, whom I presume was another son, and his wife. I find no Root =
in the cemetery listings, nor any Hoskins listed either.
=20
Do you have any clues?
=20
Thanks, Diane
