A bit of an irony as she passed away a few months later. Anyway here is an excerpt; "I am interested in this as I am hoping to trackdown something on it in the paper. If indeed he did drown, that is an oftrepeated theme in our family and I find it curious I don't remember his havingdone so as I knew the gentleman slightly. He was ?asomewhat?scandalous?fellow as he had a live in housekeeper. " It turns out either the story was hooey or I was about some other part of the family entirely unless it was about "Carl" who all I know is he was with them when they got off the ship in New York in 1883. The only reason I know that is I have the manifest, to the best of my knowledge he was never mentioned and I had extensive conversations with the wife of the youngest child of that family when we were taking care of her and Carl never came up. Anyway the point of this is I did find out that Henry did NOT drown but died of a protracted illness in a Roseburg Rest Home. Ironically I later did some work on Henry and made a comment on his page completely ignoring what you folks had found for me, even though the information about his death came from here?? Also someone had sent me a RG item about his nephew's body being found and that was one of the things I had been searching for that led me to Barney's (Henry) item. Sometimes I think I go too far; my research led me to an uncle of Henry's who might actually have descendants in Germany still, wouldn't that be a kick in the pants if one one of them contacts my son to find out how they shared DNA.
