Helen I totally agree with you, when I started researching My family history
I didn't even knwo my Gr Grandparents names, All I knew was Grandpa and
Grandma but when My parents were both in the hospital at the same time I
started talking about family and wondering and Mom fianlly gave me their
first names after all those years, anyway
I went to the LDS Church and looked in the IGI and found their Marriage date
and where, and I got so excited, and
when I told Mom that she got exctied too and she started telling me that
they are buried in Enterprise and how they
came west from Ohio and etc.. well that put me to thinking, That was the
year Dad retired and we was going to go
family finding.. and did we ever, Dad started rememering things and what
his Ancestors names were and etc,, and
we went to the Cemetry in Flora Ore where they are buried and he got so excited
, he remembered where they are
buried and then took me to the homestead place and what a day I had to see
him so excited finding the place where
he grew up and come to find out was born there.. Now he is gone and I can
telll these stories and bring him back to
me for a spell and that is what it is all about. REMEMBERING and ADMIRING
our ancestors . I had a wonderful
life and had so much fun and still do and now we have reunions on both sides
of my family that we didn't before I
started searching and going to family members getting info and pictures and
etc,. Now My Dad is gone, and My Mom
has to be taken care of and AM I ever glad I spent those five and ten years
taking them every summer to see family and
visiting and etc.. they had so much fun, and when they got so they couldn't
travel anymore, I took the camcorder and
videoed the area I went and the homesteads and etc and the Cemetery on Memorial
Day of all our family Members,
brothers, sisters, parents, grandparents and etc.. and they got so see those
the rest of their life..

SO who ever don't like to hear the Oregon Family Histories.. go else where..
we have fun and love the stories, keep
the minds greased of the great times and the histories of the family at the
time life was so hard and still so much fun.
I would love to live in a log cabin in the OCHOCO's or the BLUE MTs any
time where I know they lived and
worked and had a great life. IN FACT the Cabin in Eastern Ore where My Mom
and Dad lived the first few month of
their marriage in 1940, is still there and the flowers Mom planted are still
coming up and blooming.. Now Mom has the
memories of the day she planted those and told us the great story, those
are great stories. and special ones, Mom and Dad
were married 61 years when Dad passed away. That is all Oregon Ancestory
History, and if we want to share it
why Not ?

I have said enough but I have made my point and we can all share our history
and Love it.

I have a cousin that has just finished
writing a book about his ancestors. He explained it like this. He researched
& collected all the pertinent information, dates & places etc then
he did further research & started putting flesh to his family. What
he meant was, he gave them life. So much of our genealogy is not about giving
our lost ones life but death. I say that because I remember when I first
started finding family members that I never knew personally, & most
of the time I never knew they even existed, when I would finally sit down
& start entering them into my files I felt like I was burying them all
over again & sometime the tears would stream. I wasn't fortunate enough
to have what it took to give them life.

people from his past up out of the grave & gives them life. He does
it so unselfishly & so well

it looks like the loser won. Who ever that person is, is a person that is
