I don't personally know the exact borders of the fire but there are some
maps on-line that show the borders at different times. The map called
"Fire Progression Map" dated 9/06/03 (link below) appears to go just west
of the summit and also on the south side of the highway. Not sure
how far from the highway, the Old Santiam Wagon Road is located, but it
doesn't look too good.

grave, and it is marked with a roadside historical marker (made of wood).
When my family "discovered" her and her grave a couple of years ago, we
talked about pooling resources to purchase a metal or stone marker, but
we haven't done it yet. Potential for fire is the main reason we
thought it would be good to do so.</font></font>

to know if the fires have burned this precise area?</font></font>
