VERDENA: i have been to both the bonney cemetery and the
old bonney ranch many, many times. the bonney cem. was originally called
the putz cem. don't know why. the bonney cem. land was donated by
william edw. bonney who owned the land and the cem. was at the end of his
ranch. about 20 years ago my aunt and myself went to the ranch and were
given free rein to go anywhere in the house or the property. the house, at
that time, still had one part that was kept original with the wallpaper and
electrical that was there many, many years ago. at that time the property
was owned by a retired school teacher and his wife. he had taught at
benson high school in portland. nicest people i ever met. i have
many pics of the original farmhouse with the family in front and what it looked
like when we were there. also pics of william edw. bonney. william
edw. bonney and his wife and a couple of his kids that died young are all buried
in the bonney cem. many of his desc. are also there. william edw.
bonney was the brother of my gr. grandmother. while i still do gene. it is
more difficult now that i live in sun city, az. aomewhere in one of my
file cabinets i have a platt map of the bonney cem with an all-names
listing. my bonney info is extensive and i am always happy to share with
any of the hundreds of bonney cousins.

Elwood Cemeteries

Hi Jim,

That would be the Elwood Cemetery. That sounds like about the
time frame that my mother taught school there. Her name was Lillie
Moffitt. I used to go to school there with her sometimes. I was
born in December 1942. I do have some pictures but am not sure if there
is a group picture. Do you remember the Peterson girls or the
Stahlneckers?

The Elwood Community has a reunion every year but I only found out
about it fairly recently and we were unable to attend this year. I think
it was in August. There is still a functioning church in the same
building that has been there for years.

Colton had an all-school reunion in July that we did
attend.

Bonney Cemetery is closer to Colton. It is up on a hill and if
I remember right you go up Bauer Road to get there. I have been to
several graveside services there but it has been awhile.

Regards,
