<DIV>Apparently the trip to the Strouts Cemetery took a wrong turn. As I
recall, there is a fork in the road, part way up to the top and that is probably
where you turned to the right, instead of continuing to the top.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I was personally up there about two years ago and nothing had
changed. Everyone is still where they were for the past 20 years.

<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>The present caretakers assured me today that no gravesites have been moved
and Ed Strouts' stone is still pretty prominent. The road
to<BR>the cemetery does belong to Starkers forest, Inc., but is still used
to access the cemetery.</DIV>

<DIV>I hope this clears up the question.</DIV>

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Hello, thought you might like an update regarding
the Strouts (May-Strouts) Cemetery. My girlfriend and I drove down to
Summit to see the family home and visit the Strouts Burial Ground. We
drove down from Washington State, about six hours worth. The Strouts
farm has been sold off, parceled out and nothing remains. That's
progress, I understand. When my Grandfather, Edward Dodge Strouts died he
left all property to George Strouts, his only child from his first
marriage. What disturbed me, profoundly, is that the burial ground where
my Grandfather was laid to rest is now some sort of access road for the tree
farm George apparently sold the property to. All headstones are
gone. Several graves have been disturbed, presumably due to
re-internment to a new location. But, several remain. When I
contacted the local historical society they said they would "check into it",
that was two years ago. Haven't heard from them. My Mother
contacted Pearl Strouts, George's wife and asked where "Dad" was buried, she
hasn't responded either. Could you possibly check into this and find out
exactly where my Grandfather's remains are? He lived in Summit, retired
from the railroad, died in 1968. Also, do you have any archive photos of
Summit, OR. Sure do appreciate any information you could give
me.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Thank you, Lilly M.
