<P>John, Judy, Steve and Ronda,</P>
<P>I've been reading this great book, "Conversations with Pioneer Women" by
Fred Lockley, and while reading my email this morning decided to check it's
index for your 'RUDDELL' surname. I found, Rigdon RUDELL, son of
Stephen Douglas RUDELL of Missouri. Stephen D. was mentioned as having married
the story teller's mother, Margaret STEWART WHITE, widow of William WHITE. The
pioneer story teller, dau of William and Margaret was Clarissa Asineth WHITE
DUNBAR. She is Rigdon's half-sister. There are more family names mentioned as
well as neighbors and friends.</P>
<P>If you are interested in Clarissa'a story or if any one else wishes a
look up in the index (oh don't we love those indexes!), just ask, these
stories are absolutely fantastic!</P>
<P>Happy Hunting,</P>

<DIV></DIV>>Dear Judy, Steve and Ronda
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>You have recently posted messages on the or-roots list with
dates of
<DIV></DIV>>Ruddell family members. I'm particularly interested
in the source
<DIV></DIV>>of the birth date given for Keziah C Smith "(b. January 13,
1811
<DIV></DIV>>Illinois)", wife of Stephen Duley Ruddell, making her five
years
<DIV></DIV>>older than her husband. I understand from others who
have published
<DIV></DIV>>this date that they have taken it from the 1992 Ruddell-Himes
<DIV></DIV>>reunion brochure, but I haven't been able to ascertain the
source
<DIV></DIV>>that the brochure drew on.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Her son William Hendry Ruddell, in the 1900 census, gives her
place
<DIV></DIV>>of birth as TN, which seems more likely, given that the Smith
<DIV></DIV>>families living adjacent to the Ruddells in the 1840 census
hailed
<DIV></DIV>>from NC/TN.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>I'd be grateful for any further light that you can shed on
this.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>John
