rinformation for my children and grandchildren. I wish my parents
had done that. Last Christmas I gave a CD of all my family photos along
with a book on what I knew about the family todate. However, I am afraid
to give my whole database to someone as they might publish or use the living
information. The security issue today of someone stealing your identity is
somewhat daunting. Has anyone an idea on what else to
do.</FONT></DIV>

<DIV>A lot of people will spend their whole life collecting and putting
together their family tree and won't share it with a living sole because they
think its all their hard work and no one else should have any of it.
"Just let them go get their own and leave me alone" I wonder about these
people because I think they awfully selfish and self centered to be this way.
Thank God my family is not that way we share everything that we find and by
doing so we have one of the largest family trees around. after all its not
just your family its the family of every person in your family tree and they
also have the right to the information that you have collected. Remember you
didn't invent it you collected it from others who put it on paper for you.
Wouldn't it be fun if the numerators of the census decided that what they went
out an collected was theirs and they made the government buy it from
them. If you want to write a family book about your family and make it
into a novel like my Aunt Charlotte did then this is your work and you can do
as you wish with it. Keep it hid away sell it or just donate it to the family
your choice. But when you collect data from all over the country from public
sources then that still belongs to all of your family just because you put it
all together doesn't make it yours forever on until death do you part. My
sister in law Nancy has collected data on my Davies side and to this date has
not let any of us have any of it she guarded it right up to her death this
summer. Well, now what will brother burn it all up or throw it the trash or
finely let us see what she has collected, who knows. At any rate its wasn't
her family it was ours and her kids and even they don't have copies of it.
What a waste of time to do all that no not share even one little bit with the
family. As I said before thank God that the rest of my family is not like her.

<DIV>Well, that my opinion an its worth just about that much so lets just drop
it. </DIV>
