"Comic Sans MS"'>In the 1870's, George had what he described in notes & a
sketch, a</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

"Comic Sans MS"'>"homestead" 12 miles from La Grande on the Grand
Ronde river. He & his family</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

"Comic Sans MS"'>were permanently driven from this land by Indians in 1877 - so
if it was a</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

"Comic Sans MS"'>homestead he never obtained full title.</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

"Comic Sans MS"'>Enclosed is a black & white copy of a crayon sketch he
made of his</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

"Comic Sans MS"'>"homestead" with a note on the back written by my mother
many years ago: "This</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

"Comic Sans MS"'>picture was drawn by grandpa Gillespie of his home on the
Grande round River</span></font><o:p></o:p></p>

"Comic Sans MS"'>12 miles from Lagrande. In 1877 the Indians drove the family
