<DIV>If you can provide some type of proof that your ancestor was living in
Oregon BEFORE the date of statehood (14 Feb 1859) you are eligible to join
SDOP. Proof can be almost any historical document. Most people use
the Donation Land Claim number for their ancestor. When I started I contacted
the Genealogical Forum in Portland, OR/ But there seem to be copies
floating around other libraries, etc. Application forms can be
obtained from the organization. </DIV>
