<DIV>I think this is a pretty good overview of the obituary situation. The
one factor that may have made it more likely that a lengthy obituary would have
been published in the 1800's or at the turn of the Century was the number of
deaths in an area...fewer people; fewer deaths. But this still makes
smaller local papers a better bet than a larger metropolitan publication.</DIV>
