map of Vanport with all the streets laid out as well as the nursery, fire hall, 

and other  items in the city.  I also have several newspaper 

articles.  I visited Terri the manager what is now Delta Park 

Raceway.  She was featured in several papers about three years ago as she 

has been recovering items from the flood that have worked their way up through 

the mud.  It was interesting to see the bottles, rings, vases, lipstick 

containers, a jar of jam (still sealed with wax) and various other items.  

I believe several of the original items that she found were cast in some way and 

used in the light rail stations.  Although my parents did not live there 

was born in Vanport in 1948 and have only found one other person that was also 

born there, however she was born in 1946.  </FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML>
