Melvin name might<BR>actually have come from Scotland. I stumbled across a
fellow in either that<BR>parish, or in Fifeshire a few years back and asked
him if he could tell me<BR>if they had anything that a person might look in
and he drew a complete<BR>blank, but I think the oldest info they had was 18th
century or some such,<BR>which doesn't do much good since the third brother
supposedly died without<BR>heirs shortly after the younger two came to the

bell? It's the Scot's version of Probate Register...sort<BR>of.
Possibly the cross reference you mention would be to a previous death<BR>of a
