Archives guy who researches adoptions.  No record ever of any Hardwick’s
with name changes at all.  So, I guess if his real mother was this H. Lucy
Madantz then maybe he just was taken in by the Hardwick’s and used their
name.  That is kind of what happened with my uncle.  His real name is
Hardwick on his birth record but he took the name of his step father Flynn and
has used it his entire life.  Never was adopted.</span></font></p>

was the illegitimate son of Thomas Hardwick and this woman.  A similar
thing as that also took place in my husband’s family.  He had a
relative who was married and got this young lady pregnant.  When she had
the baby she had a nervous breakdown and named him as the father and the
hospital called him up and told him to come pick up his daughter.  His
wife was not happy, but they kept and raised the little girl.</span></font></p>

before but couldn’t get the previous page to open so didn’t know
the name of the people who supposedly adopted him.  If he really was a
nephew the wife must have been his mother’s sister.  He was back
living with his parents and brother Noah in the 1910 Census also in Whitman
